Placing First in the Marketing Category at OCMC (Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition). Team Niagara Placed Fourth.
Me and my partner won 1st place in the main category of Marketing at OCMC in 2016. The team as a whole took 4th place after all categories were announced.
How I have explained to friends in the business world about how O.C.M.C. works: Imagine you are at work. Your boss walks in and hands you a few pieces of paper and says “We have a potential new client who will be here in 30 minutes. I need you to read a little about their background and some issues they are having. I need you to come up with a S.W.O.T analysis, 2 ideas on how to solve the main issue along with basic tactics, strategies, and timelines. Decide on which of those 2 options you think is best, why, and go into more details for tactics, strategy, and timeline. Also, I will need you to do a 9-slide PowerPoint presentation and present to them in 30 minutes. Aaaand GO!”
We had Xerox and they wanted a marketing plan to have Xerox appeal to Millennials as an employer.

Recognized by Boys and Girls Club of Niagara

In Marketing Research, myself and my team member presented our findings to 2 representatives of the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara. After that presentation the representatives asked us and another team to present to the Board of Directors that summer at the meeting. My partner was only partially involved in the research and didn’t know much about what we had presented. Myself and the other team decided to team up to create one presentation with the data gathered and suggestions each team made to make the presentation more streamlined since there were a few of the same findings.
The following January, myself along with one of the other teams members were invited to a Gala for the Boys and Girls club of Niagara. The most amazing thing for me was when I opened the program and saw that they had taken my suggestion on how to do a proper survey.
I honestly felt ecstatic. Even though it seems like a small thing, it felt like a huge success to me.
